Activities
Executive function is critical in helping children acquire planned behaviour. Crafting improves focus and working memory skills, two abilities that are critical both in school and in life.
Arts and crafts allow children to be creative and use their imaginations. Their creativity and imaginative thinking can then be transferred to other academic and play activities.
Crafting often involves colouring, cutting, twisting, gluing and other skills that ultimately help children strengthen fine motor muscles.
Crafting fosters pattern recognition, detecting of sequences and spatial rotation, all of which are also skills needed in reading and math.
Children feel very proud of themselves when they complete a project.
Children of all ages enjoy art projects, and crafting allows the children to bond in a special, creative way.
Workshops provide students with opportunities for self-exploration, interpersonal support, skill- building, and problem-solving in topic areas related to skills for life and academic development.
